Come join CITBA and the Customs Lawyers Association for this deep dive discussion into valuation! Customs valuation is one of the most critical, and arguably most difficult, areas of customs law. And, it’s one that has a lot at stake for businesses and the U.S. Government in an increasingly ad valorem world of duty assessment. This panel discussion is not for the uninitiated – we will dive deep into the weeds of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s evolving determinations as to the proper valuation of related party transactions and the use of Advance Pricing Agreements and transfer pricing arrangements in that determination. We will bring a magnifying glass perspective into this important area of customs law and discuss the benefits and difficulties for both the regulator and the private sector in looking to tax agreements for customs valuation purposes.
