James L. Watson was one of the first Black American judges to serve on the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT). In his honor, CITBA is pleased to announce the first annual Watson Moot Court Competition, an event designed to provide ten junior/mid-level attorneys and ten law students an opportunity to argue a case before judges of the CIT and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Participants will have the opportunity to address issues previously heard by the CIT in various customs and trade remedy cases. Young lawyers and students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to participate.
To apply to participate in the competition, please submit the following information and materials: your name; place of employment or law school; and a cover letter demonstrating why you are interested in participating in this moot competition. Applications should be sent to:
watsonmootcourt@citba.org
Applications are due by December 31, 2023.
The cost is $750 per attorney. Law students will not pay a fee to participate.
