ArentFox Schiff LLP

2L Diversity Scholarship: ArentFox Schiff’s (AFS) annual Diversity Scholarship Program awards up to five second-year law students who are joining the AFS Summer Program with $25,000. The scholarship is paid in two installments: $12,500 during the second-year summer and another $12,500 payable when the student returns to AFS as an associate after graduation. This program is for law students who are members of historically underrepresented groups in the legal profession.

AFS Fellows Leadership Development Program: The AFS Fellows Program was introduced in 2017, coinciding with the firm’s 75th anniversary. This selective three-year program is focused on leadership development, management skills, diversity, inclusion and empowerment, and includes retreats in years one and two, and a collaborative problem-solving project in year three. The AFS Fellows program is open to associates in their fifth year of practice and above, as well as junior partners and counsel. Since 2017, we’ve selected a diverse group of 70 attorneys to be a part of this program that focuses on ‘leading from where you are’ and making a positive difference.

Traditional 2L Summer Program: The Boston, Chicago, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco offices hire 2L’s based on need.

LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder Programs: A key mission and component of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) organization is its Fellows Program--an ongoing intensive mentoring and business development program geared at pairing high potential diverse law firm attorneys with similar high potential general counsel at major corporations. Moreover, after the completion of the fellowship year, Fellows remain active alumni with continued access to the chief legal officers and law firm chairs and managing partners in the program. We select one Fellow per year, providing a substantial pipeline initiative for the Firm. 2023 was our tenth year participating in this initiative. We also participate in the LCLD Pathfinder Program, which is designed for diverse, high potential, early career attorneys with three to seven years of experience. The goal of the Pathfinder Program is to provide practical tools for developing and leveraging professional networks through relationship building skills, foundational leadership skills and an understanding of career development strategies applicable to both in-house and law firm practice. We select up to four Pathfinders each year.

LCLD 1L Scholar Program: 1L LCLD Scholars participate in a summer internship in house at a member organization and attend a summit designed exclusively for 1L LCLD Scholars.
